  • Find disparities in care. By analyzing hospital or clinic population data for trends, ultimately identifying which patients were, for example, incorrectly or inadequately treated, experienced infections, or were recently re-admitted, managers can view results at the organization level, the facility level and the provider level. We call this feature our IMAT “scorecard”, a sophisticated reporting tool where measures and metrics are pre-configured by management, and all participants can track their progress by simply running a report, found on an easily accessible dashboard.

 

  • Conduct clinical documentation reviews. By automating the review of patient records, discrepancies can found that could hinder code assignment and impede revenue flow. Since each patient has his or her own combination of medical conditions, organizations must standardize that data for comparison. Using IMAT automation to standardize all data, and reporting features to identify discrepancies, problems can be identified and resolved more quickly. One client CMIO used the IMAT platform to create and run an ad hoc query against one quarter’s worth of transcription data and identified over $800,000 worth of procedures that had been missed.

 

  • Prevent problems before they go critical. Time matters when an at-risk patient drifts into the critical range. Because the IMAT platform can ingest data from multiple, incompatible sources across the continuum of care, with accuracy and speed, problems can be identified in near real-time. Setup reports that track patients with such conditions as: pre-stage diabetes, CPOD, asthma.

 

As example, during an input process, the IMAT system was able to take in 2000 records per second, which included running 15 validation rules against each record. These results were accomplished running on a single server. But we don’t stop there. Processing results across a large data store is equally important to our clients. Against a data store of 2B records, representing 19M patients, a complex query took only 20 seconds to run on the IMAT system, and results were determined to be more accurate than the competing system. In contrast, the competing system took 20 hours to run the same query.

 

  • Reduced Readmissions. According to Becker’s Hospital Review, a re-admission costs on average 21% more than a regular admission . Through the effective use of healthcare data gathered from across the participating continuum of care, the IMAT platform enables hospitals and clinics to identify and improve treatment errors that can lead to re-admissions.
