While many hospital networks and clinics are looking to data management software to address their need for the many query and reporting requirements that hit the IT department, many data management systems were designed as inflexible systems requiring significant attention for limited IT resources. They do not carry over into the new demands that come with a “shared care” environment. They were not designed for speed, making them incapable of delivering analytic results, derived from millions if not billions of records, in seconds or minutes. Instead, complex queries may take hours or days. They were not designed to ingest 1000s of incompatible data sources, including unstructured data, from such sources as visit notes, transcripts or physician letters, in seconds.
IMAT enables hospitals to more accurately report on and reduce costly readmissions.
Many institutions believe access to such technology is beyond their budget. IMAT Solutions begs to differ. Our IMAT platform can handle the record load. It was uniquely designed for speed during data ingestion and when producing results from complex queries or reports. For administrators, it is not enough to know that 17% of your healthcare community is likely to have diabetes in the coming year, you want a tool that enables your providers to quickly drill down into those results and identify which individuals are at risk and whether they are following a treatment plan.
Medical organizations require data management solutions that are easy on the budget, compatible with software currently in use, both within the organization and the broader care coordination community, and able to be used by non-technical medical professionals. Plus, you want to have confidence that the data ingested is standardized, accurate, and comprehensive and can be used immediately. IMAT Solutions can deliver.
Find disparities in care.By analyzing hospital or clinic population data for trends, ultimately identifying which patients were, for example, incorrectly or inadequately treated, experienced infections, or were recently re-admitted, managers can view results at the organization level, the facility level and the provider level. We call this feature our IMAT “scorecard”, a sophisticated reporting tool where measures and metrics are pre-configured by management, and all participants can track their progress by simply running a report, found on an easily accessible dashboard.
Conduct clinical documentation reviews.By automating the review of patient records, discrepancies can found that could hinder code assignment and impede revenue flow. Since each patient has his or her own combination of medical conditions, organizations must standardize that data for comparison. Using IMAT automation to standardize all data, and reporting features to identify discrepancies, problems can be identified and resolved more quickly. One client CMIO used the IMAT platform to create and run an ad hoc query against one quarter’s worth of transcription data and identified over $800,000 worth of procedures that had been missed.
Prevent problems before they go critical.Time matters when an at-risk patient drifts into the critical range. Because the IMAT platform can ingest data from multiple, incompatible sources across the continuum of care, with accuracy and speed, problems can be identified in near real-time. Setup reports that track patients with such conditions as: pre-stage diabetes, CPOD, asthma.
As example, during an input process, the IMAT system was able to take in 2000 records per second, which included running 15 validation rules against each record. These results were accomplished running on a single server. But we don’t stop there. Processing results across a large data store is equally important to our clients. Against a data store of 2B records, representing 19M patients, a complex query took only 20 seconds to run on the IMAT system, and results were determined to be more accurate than the competing system. In contrast, the competing system took 20 hours to run the same query.
Reduced Readmissions. According to Becker’s Hospital Review, a re-admission costs on average 21% more than a regular admission . Through the effective use of healthcare data gathered from across the participating continuum of care, the IMAT platform enables hospitals and clinics to identify and improve treatment errors that can lead to re-admissions.
What Benefits Does Using IMAT Provide?
Radiology data – Often difficult to work with at scale because it consists mostly of images, use the IMAT plastform to get more from your PACS data through the indexing of associated meta data and text.
ED Reporting – An emergency department deals with a wide range of health issues and payment situations that make for complicated data sets. The IMAT platform can automate various tracking metrics associated with your ED department. Track by payor, by day, set alerts based on custom criteria, untangle this web of information and get a clear view into a complex department to improve outcomes and billings.
Every hospital and clinic must ask itself from the time to time, “Am I getting all the value out of the data we capture?” We’d like to show you how IMAT Solutions can improve your organization.
