07 Aug IMAT Solutions Releases C3 Framework to Enhance Health Data Confidence for Care Organizations

C3 is a framework that provides a concise and proven methodology to evaluate the ability of an organization to deliver quality health data

August 7, 2018, Orem, UT – IMAT Solutions, a leader in delivering innovative, real-time, healthcare data management and population health reporting solutions, announced the introduction of its new C3 framework to help a wide-range of healthcare organizations achieve true data confidence for enhancing all care, reporting, financial, and compliance efforts.

With the dramatic rise in the amount of health-related data that is often untimely, incomplete and inaccurate, the new C3 framework tackles this issue by ensuring all data is Clean (C1), Comprehensive (C2) and Current (C3).

Ideal for HIEs, payers, hospitals, clinics, and ACOs; the new C3 framework takes its inspiration from the Triple Aim concept of health data. Developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Triple Aim is a framework for optimizing health system performance by improving the experience of care; improving the health of populations; and reducing the per capita costs of healthcare.

“As the power of data continues to grow in the healthcare arena, this new framework can help any organization best understand and manage data for delivering accountable and informed care,” said Kurt Garbe, CEO, IMAT Solutions. “Data confidence ultimately comes down to all data being fully comprehensive, clean and current, which is the C3 foundation.”

Following is more detail about the C3 framework:

C1: Clean
Whether it’s structured or unstructured data, care organizations need to operate with all clinical and research data being fully cleansed, consistent, normalized, validated, and optimized – on a continuous basis. This provides clarity and supports the overall care and financial mission for any organization. In addition, analysts face significant time challenges when manually preparing and cleaning data before any accurate analysis can be undertaken.

C2: Comprehensive
Most data analytic solutions address only the structured data that’s readily accessible through X12 claims messages or structured input fields, but leave out critical unstructured content found within the EHR notes field, historical charted data, transcriptions, radiology notes, genomic data, social determinant data, and even data from other health systems.

By including all of the data available, it is possible to drive insights into the full continuum of care and ensure robust reporting.

C3: Current
As the emphasis in medicine moves from treatment to prevention, accessing and leveraging all current data is critical. But with a wide-range of data sources, keeping health data up-to-date can be a significant challenge. Care organizations need to have data be fully current, integrated with other systems, and evolving data sources, which are fully accessible for driving near real-time decision-making.

“The C3 framework certainly provides a clear and concise way of understanding data quality and an organization’s ability to efficiently use that data in more impactful ways,” said Matthew Hoffman, M.D., Chief Medical Informatics Officer, at the Utah Health Information Network (UHIN). “We look forward to seeing how other care organizations embrace this new data framework, and how it will impact the ways in which they acquire, prepare and leverage data.”

“Achieving true data confidence is an ongoing process,” added Garbe. “By having all three pillars of the C3 framework operating in support of each other, all health data will truly live up to its potential.”

IMAT Solutions will soon be announcing customer validated assessment tools that allow care organizations to quantify their overall data confidence – to help focus improvement initiatives to maximize their data for the best performance outcomes.
