25 Jul McKinsey: How to Bring Digital Health Investment Priorities to Life

The IMAT Health Data Management Platform is a Significant Enabler for Modernization

While most health system executives view digital and AI transformation as being critical, the vast majority are lacking resources or planning to bring these innovation efforts to life, according to a recent McKinsey survey.

Specifically, 75 percent of respondents reported that their organizations are not yet able to deliver on digital transformation because they have not sufficiently planned or allocated the necessary resources.

In addition, their organizational investments don’t align with the digital investment priorities with the most perceived impact, which are AI, virtual care, patient engagement and remote patient monitoring.

Budget and capital limitations, cumbersome legacy systems and poor data quality are the three main reasons why health systems cannot bring these types of innovation to life.

McKinsey is offering the following recommendations:

• Move beyond off-the-shelf solutions and realize value from healthcare technologies by reimagining and standardizing clinical workflows and care models across organizations.

• Build cloud-based data environments with defined data products to increase data availability and quality.

• Leverage partnerships that offer promising avenues to access new capabilities, increase speed to market, and achieve capital, scale, and operational efficiencies.

IMAT Solutions fully supports these three key recommendations to help bring healthcare digital transformation to life. For example, the IMAT Health Data Management Platform (HDMP) was recently named in the Gartner report: “Hype Cycle for Real-Time Health System Technologies, 2024.”

The Gartner report states that “A HDMP offers a collection of data services and capabilities configured for the healthcare industry to enable fluid, agile, real-time exchange and use of health information. HDMPs support broad use cases across healthcare and are a significant enabler for industry modernization.”

It also highlighted how HDMP vendors like IMAT are creating a sea change in how care systems can orchestrate and choreograph health data. HDMPs can help advance interoperability and data sharing, executive AI at scale, connect data ubiquitously, and deliver a complete consumer experience.
